Kathy Smith, Founder
Kathy Smith founded Loving Liberty, Inc. and the Loving Liberty Radio Network in 2018 to honor her late husband Bert Smith’s legacy of promoting private property, free markets, and the proper role of government. In 2018, Kathy turned one of Bert’s warehouses into a Liberty Hall and unveiled a monumental bronze statue of George Washington called "Stand Your Ground.” In 2023, Kathy relocated to southern Utah, along with the George Washington statue and the Liberty Hall clock tower, to help build Liberty Village, a 32-acre campus where the lessons and stories of America’s founding era come to life.Kathy is inspired by the faithful women of her Loving Liberty board of directors and her dedicated Loving Liberty Network production team, who model speaking the truth kindly so Americans can come together to keep our great republic. Kathy enjoys hosting friends and family and especially relishes one-on-one time with her eight children and thirty-three grandchildren.
Susan Loch, Board Member
Susan Loch is the former co-owner and program director of the Christian/conservative talk radio station in southeastern Pennsylvania: "The Freedom Station--1180 AM WFYL--Working For Your Liberty–and Things That Matter". Located in the Cradle of Liberty area (King of Prussia, Valley Forge and Philadelphia), WFYL, the then Philadelphia Fox affiliate, was purchased by Susan and her late husband Alan Loch in 2012. His vision and their goal was to provide quality programming, especially regarding Biblical truth, our nation's history, the Constitution, etc., not only to the area's listeners but also to the audience streaming around the world. Susan enjoyed being the program director and delighted in airing nationally syndicated programming (Laura Ingraham; Mike Huckabee; Matt Walsh; Scott Adams; etc.) as well as overseeing the development of excellent, award-winning, locally-produced programs as she watched the Lord bring in many incredibly talented show hosts. After her husband's death in 2021 she continued those duties until turning the station over to others in 2025. Susan loves the Lord Jesus and His Word, the Bible, and is constantly in awe of His love, goodness, faithfulness and mercy. She enjoys traveling–especially to see children and grandchildren in New Zealand, Mexico, Spain and Florida, where she now looks forward to spending the winters as a snowbird. Favorite activities are: music--especially praise and worship; playing the piano and keyboard; reading--especially biographical and historical works; walking; being with friends; and most of all--time with her children and grandchildren. Her prayer is that our freedoms will be preserved for them and future generations.
Tonya Nelson, Board Member
Tonya Nelson is a wife, mother of six wonderful children, follower of Jesus Christ, and proud American. Alongside her husband, Jeremy, she works to promote the principles of liberty through the National Center for Constitutional Studies. With the generous support of Kathy Smith and her late husband, Bert, their efforts have helped distribute more than 30 million pocket-sized copies of the United States Constitution.One of Tonya’s greatest passions is teaching the principles of liberty, the proper role of government, and the remarkable stories of America’s history—especially to the rising generation. She believes that education is essential to preserving liberty and that America’s best days are ahead of us!Tonya is honored to join the remarkable women of Loving Liberty and to work alongside them in helping inspire, educate, and strengthen others in the cause of freedom.
Barbara Ardell, Board Member
With a career spanning over 50 years in business, Barbara Ardell brings a diverse background in sourcing, change management, personnel development, training and strategic planning. As a sourcing executive at Procter & Gamble, Barbara experienced, first hand, the societal advantages of free markets, and the detriments of artificial market controls. In her consulting business, Barbara assisted clients with skill development, process improvement and technology solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their staff and their organizations. Over the years, volunteer activities have included: Pro-Kids Court-Appointed Special Advocate, Equipping Ministries International Trainer, Faith Evangelical Free Church Personnel Committee, Romanian Handicapped Ministries Board Member, Founding Board Member – The Other Side Academy Atlanta, HOA Budget & Finance Committee, and Florida Long Term Care Ombudsman. Barbara enjoys traveling the US and the world to study history, meet diverse people and experience different cultures. She loves spending as much time as possible with her two grown children and five grandchildren, often having one or more of them join her travel adventures.
Sarah Norton, Board Member
Sarah Norton is a lifelong champion of liberty, a dedicated educator, and a trauma-recovery practitioner. A mother of four, stepmother of four, and grandmother of seven, she has been married for six years to her childhood friend, Bill Norton.
Her passion for civic engagement spans decades—from campaigning for her father's school board seat and serving as an Arizona legislative district treasurer to portraying Abigail Adams for local fifth-graders for 13 years. Alongside Bill, Sarah co-founded a political action organization, successfully led grassroots efforts against unfair tax increases, and gained recognition for her constitutional advocacy. Today, she and Bill travel nationwide promoting Self-Government Works, an interactive civics simulation, and contribute hands-on to Liberty Village's educational mission.
An entrepreneur and writer, Sarah owns Your Beautiful Soul, offering trauma-relief sessions, retreats, and a podcast. With social media videos garnering over 14 million views, she also serves as a regional social media specialist for her church. Having triumphed over profound personal adversity—including domestic abuse and heartbreaking family loss—Sarah channels her resilience into her advocacy. Whether teaching youth self-governance or helping trauma survivors reclaim their joy, she remains fiercely devoted to defending dignity, agency, and freedom in every aspect of life.
