Farmall Tractor and Aultman-Taylor Steam Engine
Gil shows us a 1929 Farmall regular. These tractors replaced the steam engine. They are easier to operate. Brackets were used to cultivate corn or other row crops. Gil explains how the brake pedals functioned using steering to tighten the cable to brake on one side.
The Steam Tractor goes on a short drive around the museum. It is powered by an air compressor instead of steam to make it safer for a museum exhibition. The steam tractor could pull a 6 or 8 bottom plow to turn a field’s soil over.
